Job Opportunities
Research Associate
Area(s) of expertise desired: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry
Description
ProtElix, Inc., an early stage, pre-IPO startup, is a proven pioneer in the field of protein engineering and optimization by molecular evolution. We're building upon our extensive, patented technology and the latest advances in evolutionary mutagenesis to address critical unmet needs. Current projects are focused on developing optimized enzymes, and next generation protein-based therapeutics.
Our biofuel and clinical enzyme research team is growing, and we are currently seeking a Research Associate with a strong background in molecular biology and protein characterization. Primarily, this position will involve building protein libraries through ProtElix' proprietary mutagenesis technology to improve an enzyme’s thermostability profile.
Requirements
This position requires three to five years of industry laboratory experience, as well as a BS or MS degree.
Must have knowledge in molecular biology and experience constructing vectors for various expression systems (S. cerevisiae, P. Pastoris, E. Coli). Previous experience building libraries is a plus. Experience with high throughput functional screening of protein libraries is preferred. Candidate should also have significant biochemical experience working with proteins and have a strong knowledge of basic protein-chemistry skills including ELISA, Western blots and quantitation techniques. Also, experience with RT-PCR (Taqman) and liquid handling robotics is desirable.
You must be detail-oriented and diligent in performing experimental procedures and keeping current documentation in laboratory notebooks. Technical proficiency and ability to troubleshoot experiments is required. Good sterile laboratory techniques, media preparation and lab organizational skills, including ordering supplies from vendors, are essential. Proficiency in molecular biology software for sequence analysis (Sequencher, MacVector), writing SOPs, and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential.
This is a full-time position offering competitive salary and top-notch benefits, including: medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; an incentive stock option program; flextime; ten paid holidays; three weeks of PTO; and medical & dependent care flexible spending accounts.
To apply for this position, please send your CV/resume and a cover letter to hr@protelix.com.
ProtElix is an equal opportunity employer.
