Staff Scientist, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology

Description
We're currently seeking a talented, hands-on bench scientist with demonstrated technical expertise and accomplishments in phage display and protein expression, purification and characterization to join our protein engineering team. Experience with analysis of target-binding proteins identified by phage display is highly desirable.

Required
This position requires a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field with a minimum of three years post-degree experience, ideally in an industry environment. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in phagemid library design, construction, selection, and screening. He/she will also be well versed in a wide variety of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including recombinant protein expression, purification/analysis (liquid chromatography, HPLC, FPLC, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, UV spectrometry) and characterization, including ligand-receptor binding and ELISA plate-based assays. A high degree of proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.

Desirable
Bonus points for experience with updated methods for rapid cloning and high-throughput small scale protein expression. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with molecular evolution and protein engineering in a drug-discovery environment.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of scientific accomplishments. He/she is expected to conduct research independently and to contribute novel and creative ideas for troubleshooting and problem solving in research-related areas. The ability to interact productively with management and fellow team members, and to contribute effectively to multiple projects in a fast-paced, start-up environment, is expected.
